Bloom is a dust-like film that appears on the surface of beeswax. Bloom is the sugar that rises to the surface of the wax. This can happen for several reasons including changes in temperature, humidity or air pressure. Beeswax bloom is not harmful to the candle and does not affect the way it burns.
Though many people enjoy the look of bloom it can be gently wiped off with a soft cloth restoring the color. Another effective way to remove the bloom is to carefully heat the surface of your candle with a hair dryer. Removing bloom does not affect your burn time. Bloom is your assurance that your candle is made from pure beeswax. Beeswax has no expiration date, does not spoil, or become rancid.
